Hmmm. There’s some interesting news out today about teenagers and the Internet. According to new research, digital media is actually good for teens.
Experts says results from one of the most extensive studies on U.S. teens reveals that young people are developing important social and technical skills online - often in ways older folks do not understand or value. In fact, researchers found that spending time online is essential for teens to pick up the social and technical skills they need to be competent adults in the digital age.
Other significant findings include:
- There is a generation gap in how teens and adults view the value of online activity.
- Young people are motivated to learn from their peers online.
- Most youth are not taking full advantage of the learning opportunities online.

And we thought the Internet was just a source of mindless activity for teens. Think again.
This is the digital age, folks. It’s only going to get bigger and more intense. Let’s all applaud our youth for embracing it.
