Overview
Cyber filtering software is a type of firewall installed on your computer that examines all web site traffic and blocks sites you have decided you don’t want members of your household visiting. In addition the software will allow you to deny chat and instant messaging, games or any application you don’t want your child using, protecting them from cyberbullies, online predators and scams. Cyber Patrol is implemented at schools, libraries and companies to monitor internet access.
Survey
Recent surveys have revealed that 40% of kids viewed pornography online while 30% of teens had contact with a stranger and near 10% experienced disturbing stranger contact. Additional survey findings included these facts:
52 percent of teens have given out personal information online to someone they don’t know offline including personal photos and/or physical descriptions of themselves (24 per cent). Double the number of teen girls have shared photos or physical descriptions of themselves online as boys (34 per cent girls vs. 15 per cent boys) (Harris Interactive-McAfee 10/2008)
42 percent of youth had been exposed to online pornography in the past year. Of those, 66% reported only unwanted exposure. (Wolak, Janis, et al. “Unwanted and Wanted Exposure to Online Pornography in a National Sample of Youth Internet Users.” Pediatrics 119 (2007); 247-257.)
Features
These are some of the main features of Cyber Patrol:
1. Allows monitoring of your kids online web site activity
2. Add/modify user profiles and specify multiple users with specific filtering settings. Profiles are assigned to each specific computer user and describes what web sites and applications that should be allowed or denied.
3. Specific time and day of the week limits can be assigned to each profile. The software filters 14 distinct categories such as adult, gambling and violence, and each can be set to 1 of 5 defined levels.
4. Specific keywords can be entered that will block content.
5. Protect personal information from being revealed and used by cyberbullies and predators
6. Select from an enhanced list of common cyberbullying phrases to block
7. An administrator password allows you to override sites allowed on a white list or deny on a black list on the fly

Windows® XP Home Edition SP2+
Windows® XP Professional SP2+
