The Internet: for and BY teens…
October 18th, 2008 Posted in Cyber News, Statistics, Teen Issues
I don’t know how I am getting so lucky today, but i am finding all sorts of great, current stats everywhere I look! It’s not always easy to get pertinent, timely numbers where teens and the Internet are concerned, but here, tonight, the benevolent cyber spirits are with me.
I just found this study about teens and content creation online. It’s a study from last year, and pretty deep. Not the kind of thing you could expect annually, so these numbers are probably pretty relevant. In fact, I would argue that nearly all these numbers would probably be higher today.
According to the study:
- 59% of all American teenagers engage in at least one form of online content creation
- Of those 35% of all teen girls blog, compared with 20% of online boys
- 54% of girls post photos online compared with 40% of online boys
- Boys however like their video, with 19% of boys posting video online vs. 10% of girls.
