How Does Your Teen Surf at School?

You didn’t want to admit it. But now you’ve finally faced the fact. Your children are overweight. You are determined to do something about it. But you are concerned. How do you help your children lose weight and stay healthy? Their bodies are still growing and developing, and you don’t want to interfere with that.
Here are four basic tips to help your children lose weight and stay healthy:
1. Improve eating habits
Due to today’s hectic life styles, many families exist on fast food and prepackaged meals. These are loaded with fat, salt, and empty calories.
Prepare healthy meals that include fish, poultry, lean meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Yes, this takes time, but there are many cook books that provide quick and healthy meals. Encourage your children to get involved in shopping for food and preparing meals.
2. Increase exercise
Children today lead very sedentary lives. They spend most of their free time watching TV, playing video games, and surfing the Internet. Encourage your children to get involved in various forms of exercise, such as walking, swimming, or biking. Encourage them to become involved in sports at school or in other organizations.
3. Emphasize life style change rather than diet
Rather than telling your children that they are going on a diet for x number of weeks or months, explain that this is a permanent life style change that is not only going to help them lose weight and stay healthy for now, but for the rest of their lives.
4. Make it a family affair
If you make your children feel like you are imposing some sort of regimen on them, they will resent it and probably resist. But if you explain that this is something that the whole family is embarking on, they are more likely to participate.
So not only is it possible to help your children lose weight and stay healthy, you can also help ensure that they become healthy, active adults.

What is a good computer for a teen on a budget?
I have recently started working and I would like to put most of my paycheck towards a new computer. I’m a freshman, but I would like the computer to get me all the way through high school and possibly through college. I only make $7.25 an hour, so I’d like the computer to be affordable; preferably under $1000. It will be mainly for internet surfing, music and photo storage, and word processing.
Here are the things I NEED in the computer:
*Laptop
*CD-ROM drive
*iTunes compatible
*AT LEAST 2GB of DDR2 memory
*AT LEAST 160GB hard drive
*A USB port
*Wireless Internet Compatible
*14.1″ to 15.4″ screen
*Doesn’t overheat easily
Here are the things I WANT in a computer:
*DVD player
*Blu-Ray Player
*1.2″ in height or less
*PC
*Silver, White, or Black
*5 Pounds or Less
*3GB of DDR2 memory
*250GB hard drive
Any suggestions would be great! Please say if you have personal experience with this computer and any comments you have about it!
Don’t even try for the blue ray player for under a grand. If I were you I’d look for something around 600 that will last me through high school then go for it again in 4 years for college. Technology increases so much every year that it’s unrealistic that your computer will be up to par then.
At Best Buy I know you can get a computer with
AMD Turion X2 TL 60
2 gb ram
160 gb hard drive
wireless
~3 usb
dvd/cd burner/player
runs windows so will run itunes
15.4
for like 600 when it’s on sale… look for a sale with something like this and go for it. Good brands Toshiba, HP, apple, sony
I’d probably not bother looking at apple or sony as there pricey.
